Astrophysics is introducing a new and upgraded feature to its XIS machines – Enhanced Imaging (EI). EΙ is an image manipulation function that creates clearly defined images and increases object visibility in complex bags.EI will be deployed to all conventional bag and cargo scanning systems in the near future.
Enhanced Imaging (EI) vs. Picture Perfect
Both Picture Perfect and EI employ an adaptive filter that performs a series of post-processing functions to enhance an x-ray image. This filter, commonly called “Histogram Equalization,” increases image contrast to help discriminate between items for more effective screening.
The advantage of upgrading to EI from Picture Perfect is that while Picture Perfect can only enhance still images, EI can enhance images in real-time, during the scanning process.
Upgrade your system!Advantages EI mode
- Usable with all standard imaging modes (3-Color, 6-Color, Organic, Inorganic, Black/White, Black/White Reverse);
- Is toggled using the standard AOCP and can be rapidly switched on/off without noticeable delay;
- Mixes histogram equalization and normal scanning coloration, and this mixing can be configured for various imaging applications. This allows EI Mode to avoid visual artifacts that may be present in Picture perfect images;
- Is paired with a feature that minimizes the unused white space in traditional displays. The machine is configured so that the largest possible image fills the screen in the default view, without further zooming.
Incorporating EI Mode
EI Mode will replace Picture Perfect on all conventional machines. Operators will not need to learn new functionality to incorporate EI mode; the old Picture Perfect button is now the EI button on all standard, icon-based and alphanumeric AOCP’s.
