Lab Impex launch their New Alpha/Beta Particulate in Air monitor – SmartCAM

PEO introduces a new release of Lab Impex Systems, the Alpha/Beta particulate in air monitor, the SmartCAM. The SmartCAM is the next generation Continuous Air Monitor (CAM) for unparalleled performance in terms of detectable limit, sensitivity and speed.

The SmartCAM utilises state-of-the-art Spectral Measurement Analysis in Real Time (SMART) technology.  Providing real advances in alpha particulate detection techniques.
Using an isotope peak fitting algorithm is proven to be more accurate than using regions-of-interest or tail-fitting methods, resulting in:

• and more reliable response

In operation the SmartCAM continually monitors alpha and beta particulates deposited on a static card mounted filter (optional moving filter will also be available) with a high efficiency solid state detector.  Air is drawn through the card-mounted filter by an external vacuum pump or distributed vacuum main.

Where the SmartCAM sets itself apart from other systems is in its ability to accurately determine background (Radon and Gamma) ensuring the limitation of expensive false alarms.

An enhancement contributing to this unrivalled performance is the introduction of temperature and barometric pressure compensation (patent pending).  This enhancement enables stabilisation of the alpha spectrum which contributes to a reduction in spectrum shift known to be caused by changes in temperature and barometric pressure, thus aiding improved detection accuracy.
