GammaTRACER: the stand-alone radiation monitor probe
The GammaTRACER was designed by Bertin for long term continuous measurement, registration and transmission of the environmental gamma dose rate. The autonomous radiation monitoring probe continuously registers the gamma radiation dose via a chosen interval.Energy-saving chip technology ensures maintenance-free, non-stop operation of the probe for five years. An optional battery pack extends this duration to ten years! Hermetically sealed, the radiation monitor functions in the toughest weather conditions. An integrated solar panel ensures unlimited autonomy (with a measuring cycle of 10 minutes). The GammaTRACER is available in five different types that cover a wide range of applications and are suitable for both mobile and stationary tasks, via the ShortLINK (5km transmission radius) or SkyLINK (100km transmission radius) wireless connection network.

Radiation monitoring system in Germany
Bertin’s GammaTRACER probes were implemented in 2002 for a monitoring network that covers the entire area of the three nuclear power plants in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany). The radiation monitoring system tat was installed in 2002 has been operating non-stop for over 16 years. With the 3-year independent power supply, they efficiently monitor a large area with minimal maintenance.
It is important to inform the authorities and the nearby population about the measured radiation levels when an emergency scenario occurs. SkyLINK offers the solution for this: a wireless network that does not depend on the presence, or operation, of a public mobile infrastructure. The radiation monitoring system is therefore safe and reliable in emergency situations, with a transmission radius of 100 kilometers.
The SkyLINK network and the GammaTRACER probes have proven their excellent features and reliability for over 16 years. Bertin’s environmental radiation monitoring systems have also been deployed in many other regions with nuclear power stations to increase safety, especially since the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
